Where to Get a DNA Test in Singapore: Best Clinics & Costs Explained (2026)

📅 Last Updated: 09 July 2026

Looking for a reliable DNA test in Singapore? Whether you need a legal paternity test, ancestry breakdown, or health risk analysis, there are certified clinics, hospitals, and home kit providers that offer fast, accurate results. This guide covers the best places to get a DNA test in Singapore, what each type costs, and which clinics offer legal or medical-grade results.

What Is a DNA Test?

A DNA test analyses the 0.1 per cent of your genetic code that makes you unique. Modern laboratories extract DNA from a painless cheek swab (or a small blood sample), amplify specific markers and compare the pattern against reference data. The resulting report can:

• Confirm biological relationships (paternity, twins, or extended kinship).

• Map ethnic origins by matching your variants with global population databases.

• Reveal inherited health risks or carrier status.

• Guide treatment choices through pharmacogenomic insights.

Turnaround ranges from 24 hours for urgent legal cases to eight weeks for overseas ancestry kits.

Why Take a DNA Test in Singapore?

DNA tests can reveal a wealth of information, including:

• Ancestry breakdown

• Health and genetic predispositions

• Paternity or family relationship verification

• Legal documentation for immigration or custody cases

Singapore is home to several reputable clinics and labs offering accurate and confidential DNA testing services.

DNA Test Costs in Singapore: What to Expect

The price of a DNA test in Singapore depends on the type of test and whether it’s for legal purposes:

Note: Legal tests often include sample collection under strict chain-of-custody procedures, which adds to the cost.

Legal DNA Test Singapore: Court-Ready Options

When evidence must stand up in court, you need a test that follows chain-of-custody rules:

1. All parties show an official ID and provide swabs under witness.

2. Samples travel in tamper-evident packaging with signed logs.

3. An ISO-accredited lab issues a notarised report.

Expect S$500 – S$2,500 depending on urgency and participant count; results arrive within 7-15 working days (24-hour express is available at some clinics).

Paternity DNA Test Singapore: Home vs Chain-of-Custody

Both versions analyse at least 21 STR markers and deliver > 99.99 % probability for inclusion or exclusion.

Ancestry DNA Test Singapore: Discover Your Roots

Mail-order kits (AncestryDNA, MyHeritage) estimate ethnic makeup and help connect distant relatives.

Pros

• Huge global databases (25 million+ users).

• Colourful migration maps and ongoing algorithm updates.

Cons

• Entertainment only-no medical or legal weight.

• Data privacy policies vary; read consent forms before purchase.

Kits cost US$89 – US$149 (about S$120 – S$200) plus shipping; full results land six to eight weeks after the sample reaches the overseas lab.

Hospital DNA Test Singapore: Clinical Screening & Diagnostics

Public hospitals focus on medical genetics rather than ancestry. Common services:

• Carrier screening for couples planning a family.

• Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) from week 10.

• Cancer-risk panels (BRCA1/2, Lynch, multigene).

• Pharmacogenomics to tailor drug choice and dose.

• Inherited cardiac panels for arrhythmia genes.

Prices range S$1,600 – S$6,000 before subsidies. MediSave, MediShield Life or employer insurance may offset costs; turnaround is two to four weeks, and counselling is typically mandatory.
