AI training jobs in Singapore pay $12 to $25 per hour for freelance data annotation and evaluation work, with full-time AI trainer roles at local companies paying $3,500 to $6,500 per month. These are jobs where humans teach AI systems — by rating responses, labelling images, transcribing audio, or providing feedback on AI-generated text. You do not need to know how to build AI. You need English proficiency (for text tasks), attention to detail, and in some cases a degree (for more complex evaluation work). The main platforms hiring in Singapore in 2026 are Telus International, Appen, Remotasks, Outlier.ai, and DataAnnotation.tech.

What AI Training Jobs Actually Involve: 4 Task Types
The term “AI training” covers several different types of work. Before applying, understand which task type you are suited for:
| Task type | What you do | Skills needed | Pay range (SGD) | Best platform |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Text evaluation (RLHF) | Rate AI chatbot responses for accuracy, helpfulness, and safety | Strong English, critical thinking | $15–$25/hr | Outlier.ai, DataAnnotation.tech |
| Data annotation (image) | Draw bounding boxes, label objects in photos for computer vision AI | Attention to detail, basic computer skills | $10–$16/hr | Appen, Remotasks |
| Audio transcription | Convert speech to text, label accents or emotions in audio | Good listening, English or other language | $12–$18/hr | Telus International, Appen |
| Search relevance rating | Judge whether web search results match the search query | Internet research skills, local knowledge | $12–$20/hr | Telus International (ISGM) |
| Content moderation | Review AI-flagged content for policy violations | Resilience, clear judgement | $14–$22/hr | Telus International, Accenture SG |
Text evaluation (RLHF — Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback) pays the most and has the most Singapore openings in 2026. It involves rating and rewriting AI responses. Strong English and a degree (any subject) improve your application success rate significantly.

Telus International (formerly Lionbridge AI) is the largest employer of AI data collection workers globally and has significant Singapore operations. Work is freelance, from home, with a minimum of 10 hours and a maximum of 26 hours per week. Apply at telusinternational.com/solutions/ai-data-solutions.

Appen — Image, Text, and Multilingual Task Projects
Appen is an Australian AI data company with a large Singapore contractor base. They run project-based work rather than ongoing contracts — you may be active for 3 months on a project, then wait for the next. Pay varies widely by project: $10–$20/hr for most English tasks, higher for rare language pairs or technical expertise. Singapore workers are most commonly placed on image annotation, text classification, and sentiment analysis projects. Appen accepts Singapore citizens, PRs, and some long-term pass holders. - Pay: $10–$20/hr depending on project and task type
- Work style: Project-based — intermittent, not guaranteed ongoing

- Requirements: Valid Singapore work status; English proficiency; some projects require specific language skills (Mandarin, Malay, Tamil)
Outlier.ai and DataAnnotation.tech — Highest-Paying Text Evaluation
Outlier.ai and DataAnnotation.tech both focus on the highest-value AI training task: RLHF text evaluation — rating and improving AI-generated responses for large language models. These platforms pay $20–$32/hr for Singapore-based workers with strong credentials. Both require a college degree, excellent English writing ability, and in some cases domain expertise (mathematics, coding, medicine, law). The work is intellectually demanding — you review AI outputs sentence by sentence, rate quality, identify errors, and write improved versions. Both platforms are competitive to join; application involves writing samples and a qualification test.
- Outlier.ai pay: $20–$28/hr for general text evaluation; higher for STEM or coding tasks
- DataAnnotation.tech pay: $20–$32/hr; coding tasks pay the most
- Requirements: College degree required for both; coding background (Python, SQL) unlocks the highest-paying task categories
- Apply: outlier.ai and dataannotation.tech — both accept Singapore-based workers
- Note: Both have waiting lists; apply and check your email within 2–4 weeks
Remotasks — Best for Beginners Without a Degree
Remotasks (owned by Scale AI) is the most accessible AI training platform for beginners in Singapore — no degree required for most task types, and the platform provides free training for new workers before paid work begins. Task types include image annotation (drawing bounding boxes), lidar point cloud labeling (for autonomous vehicle AI), and text tasks. Pay starts at $8–$10/hr for basic annotation tasks and increases with certification level and speed. Singapore residents can join at remotasks.com. The free training modules take 2–5 hours to complete before you can access paid tasks.
- Pay: $8–$10/hr starting; $12–$18/hr for certified higher-level tasks

How to Apply for AI Training Jobs in Singapore: Step by Step
- Choose your starting point: Beginner with no degree → Remotasks. Degree holder wanting flexible freelance → Telus International or Appen. Strong English writer → Outlier.ai or DataAnnotation.tech. Full-time role → LinkedIn + MyCareersFuture.
- Prepare your profile: A simple resume listing your education, English proficiency level, and any relevant experience (writing, editing, research, data work). No technical portfolio needed for entry-level annotation roles.
- Pass the qualification test: Most platforms require a short test before accepting you. Telus International’s exam (called “rater exam”) covers search quality guidelines — read the guidelines document before attempting it. Outlier.ai requires writing samples.
- Complete onboarding training: Remotasks and Appen have free training modules you must complete before accessing paid tasks. Take them seriously — your speed and accuracy on initial tasks determines which higher-paying task types you get access to.
- Start with one platform: Do not spread across five platforms at once. Pick one, learn its task type thoroughly, and build up your rating/accuracy score before adding others.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do AI training jobs pay in Singapore?
Freelance AI training jobs in Singapore pay $10 to $32 per hour depending on task type and platform. Basic image annotation pays $10–$14/hr on Appen or Remotasks. Search quality rating (Telus International) pays $15–$18/hr. Text evaluation and RLHF work on Outlier.ai or DataAnnotation.tech pays $20–$32/hr for degree holders with strong English. Full-time in-house AI trainer roles at Singapore companies pay $3,500–$7,000/month.
Can foreigners on work passes do AI training jobs in Singapore?
It depends on the platform and pass type. Telus International and Appen accept Singapore PRs and some Employment Pass holders in addition to citizens. Most freelance platforms require valid Singapore work status — they do not accept tourist visa holders. Check each platform’s eligibility requirements before applying. MyCareersFuture.gov.sg lists only MOM-verified roles open to Singapore citizens and PRs.
Is a degree required for AI training jobs in Singapore?
Not always. Remotasks accepts workers without a degree for image annotation tasks. Appen accepts diplomas for most projects. However, the highest-paying AI training jobs — RLHF text evaluation at Outlier.ai and DataAnnotation.tech, and search quality rating at Telus International — prefer or require a bachelor’s degree. A degree in any subject qualifies; it does not need to be in a technical field.
What is the difference between AI training jobs and data entry?
AI training jobs involve judgment and evaluation — you are deciding whether an AI response is correct, rating content quality, or identifying what objects appear in an image. Data entry is mechanical transcription with no evaluation component. AI training jobs pay significantly more ($12–$32/hr vs $8–$12/hr) and require stronger critical thinking, but are also more cognitively demanding.
